Are PSOne Classics from the Playstation Network Store on PS3 better quality than the original?

I have the original FFVIII and was thinking about playing it again. I still have the original discs, but when played, the text and graphics are very blurry and pixelated. I understand that it is an old game, but is there a chance that the ones on PS3 better quality?

  1. If you already have a solid version of the game, there’s no reason to buy a downloadable version. They’re the exact same games with no added features or enhancements.

  2. There is an option on the ps3 to reduce the blur. But to be honest they still look crappy. I have noticed almost no difference in quality over just playing them off the disc over downloading them. Its not worth buying it again if you already have it on a disc.

  3. you have the exact same copy on disc that you will get from the psstore and hit the ps button while playing the game and you will get an option to turn on ps smoothing which makes almost no difference actually makes it look slightly blurrier but less pixelated only advantage of the download is the load times may be slightly faster but will not get slower as the disc would when its scratched
